Brown noise generator
Play brown noise in this tab, free, with no ads and no YouTube loop. Brownian (red) noise puts most of its energy in the bass, about 6 dB down per octave, so it rumbles like a cabin or distant thunder. This page stays locked to brown: Deep Sleep, Ultra Deep, Focus, Nursery, a 10-band EQ, and a timer through 8, 12, or 24 hours. Nothing is uploaded.

Brown noise presets on this page
Each chip in the player sets Tone and EQ. Volume and the timer stay yours. Tap a card, then use it in the player above.
Deep Sleep
Rolled-off treble for overnight play and deep sleep. Pair with an 8 hour or 12 hour timer, or leave the timer Off.
Use in playerAirplane
Cabin drone. Sits under speech on a plane or train.
Use in playerNight Rumble
Softer brown for reading in bed. Close to a soft brown noise search.
Use in playerThunder Bed
Heavier 31 Hz and 63 Hz. Distant thunder, not a storm recording.
Use in playerUltra Deep
Warmest Tone plus a strong 31 Hz shelf. Super deep and ultra deep brown noise on this lab.
Use in playerSoothing
Gentler highs for winding down, quiet ASMR-style listening, or anxiety at night. Not a treatment.
Use in playerTraffic
More mid-bass so roads and HVAC sit under the rumble. Raise volume only as far as you could talk over.
Use in playerFocus
A little more 250 to 500 Hz for study, work, writing, and reading. People also try this for ADHD. This site does not diagnose ADHD.
Use in playerAmbient
A balanced brown drone that stays in the background while you work or sit still.
Use in playerLow Ring
A slight 1 kHz lift for people who mask lower ringing. High ringing sits closer to blue or violet. Not medical care.
Use in playerPets
Highs cut harder for dogs and cats. Keep volume low and stop if they look stressed.
Use in playerNursery
Gentle brown with treble cut. Pink is still the usual baby pick on this site. Watch the child and keep it quiet.

What brown noise is
The generator integrates white noise so the spectrum follows 1/f², the slope described as Brownian noise. Each higher octave carries about a quarter of the power of the one below it. You hear rumble instead of hiss. Pink noise is a gentler slope. White noise is flat and bright. RelaxEnd synthesizes the signal in this tab with a worklet. There is no looped file and no upload. Darken it with Tone (Warmest, Warm, Soft) or the 10-band EQ from 31 Hz to 16 kHz. A sleep timer can run from 15 minutes to 24 hours.
Brown noise for sleep
People use brown noise as a sleep bed because the hiss is low. A 2022 review of sound as a sleep aid notes that brown noise shows up often on YouTube, while academic reports on it are still scarce. This page is not a black-screen YouTube video. Use Black screen in the nav for a true-black overlay while the generator keeps playing. There is no separate alarm clock.
- Deep Sleep or Soothing, then 8 hours or 12 hours on the timer, or Off for all night
- Fade out in Customize if you want the last minute to ease down
- Headphones work. Start quieter than speakers. Stop if your ears feel tired
- This is live synthesis, not a 1 hour remastered loop or a podcast with ads
Brown noise for focus
The rumble can sit under thinking instead of hissing on top of it. A 2024 ADHD noise meta-analysis found a small task benefit for white and pink noise in ADHD groups, and no published brown-noise trials. Evidence is mixed. Use what lets you stay with the page or the task.
- Focus preset for study, work, writing, reading, and long concentration blocks
- Soothing or Ambient if Focus feels too present
- Headphones in a noisy room. Meditation bell in Customize if you want a gentle interval
- People also search this for overthinking, productivity, headaches, and ADHD. RelaxEnd does not treat those
Brown noise for babies
Some caregivers use a low rumble at nap time because it has less hiss than white noise. Infants hear more high-frequency energy than adults, so volume matters more than the preset name. This is not pediatric advice.
- Start with Nursery. Soothing is the next quieter chip if Nursery still feels present
- Keep the speaker across the room, well below talking level. Do not put a phone in the crib
- Set a timer (1 hour, 8 hours) so it does not run past the nap unless you mean it to
- Watch the child. Stop if they startle, seem unsettled, or you are unsure. Pink noise is still the usual baby pick on this site.
Brown noise frequencies
Brown noise is a slope, not one pitch. Power drops about 6 dB per octave, so most energy sits in the low bands (31 Hz and 63 Hz on the EQ). See colors of noise for how the family is named. 432 Hz is a sine wave, not brown noise. There is no remastered MP3 here. Shape the spectrum with Tone and the 10-band EQ, pick Ultra Deep for the heaviest rumble, or open the noise generator to compare colors in one lab.
How to play brown noise here
- Press Play. Audio starts in this tab. Nothing is streamed from a file.
- Pick a preset. Choose Deep Sleep, Ultra Deep, Focus, Nursery, Traffic, Soothing, or another brown chip. Each one sets Tone and EQ for this color only.
- Set volume. Move volume to a level you could talk over. Loud brown noise can fatigue hearing the same as any other sound.
- Shape Tone and EQ. Optional. Drag Tone toward Warmest for a super deep rumble, or open Equalizer and boost 31 Hz while cutting 8 kHz and 16 kHz.
- Set a sleep timer. Optional. Open Customize for chips from 15 minutes to 24 hours (including 8 h and 12 h), fade in or out, or a meditation bell.

FAQ
- What is Brownian noise? Is it the same as brown or red noise?
- Yes. Brownian noise is named after Brownian motion. Some texts call the same 1/f² slope red noise. This player uses that slope. The sound is synthesized here, not a field recording of thunder.
- What does brown noise sound like?
- A low rumble: distant thunder, a far waterfall, or an airplane cabin. There is little hiss compared with white noise. Thunder Bed and Airplane push the bass. Night Rumble and Soothing are softer. Ultra Deep is the heaviest chip on this page.
- What is brown noise good for?
- People use it as a sleep bed, to cover traffic or snoring, and as a steady drone for reading or work. Searchers also try it for anxiety or ADHD because the top end is quieter than white. RelaxEnd does not treat those conditions. Try Deep Sleep, Focus, or Traffic and keep what feels steady.
- Does brown noise work? How does it affect the brain?
- A constant rumble can make sudden sounds less startling, which is why some listeners find it easier to sleep or concentrate. Published research on colored noise and sleep is mixed. See the 2022 sleep-aid review. This page is a generator, not a clinical study. If it helps you stay with a task or fall asleep, that is the useful test.
- Is brown noise harmful?
- Brown noise is sound. High volume can fatigue hearing, same as any other audio. There is no proven link between this color and nightmares. Keep volume moderate, on headphones too, and stop if it bothers you. This page is not medical advice.
- Is it good to sleep with brown noise all night?
- Many people sleep with it because the hiss is low. Leave the timer Off for all-night play, or pick 8 hours or 12 hours so playback stops. Deep Sleep rolls off treble. Use Black screen in the nav if you want the display true black while audio continues. This is not a black-screen YouTube video; the player stays on the page.
- Which is better for sleep, brown or pink noise?
- White is hissy and covers speech. Pink noise sits in the middle, closer to rain. Brown is heavier in the bass. There is no healthiest color. If brown feels too dark, try pink. If you need speech masking, try white noise.
- Is brown noise good for tinnitus?
- Some people use brown noise as a mask when the ringing sits low. A 2019 University of Groningen survey of brown and black noise CDs is the closest published case report; it is a follow-up survey, not a controlled trial. Try Low Ring on this page. High ringing often sits closer to violet noise. RelaxEnd is not a treatment. Talk to a clinician. If the sound makes ringing worse, stop.
- Do people use brown noise for ADHD and focus?
- People look for brown noise for ADHD, study, and work because the rumble sits under thinking instead of hissing on top of it. A 2024 ADHD noise meta-analysis found no brown-noise trials. Use the Focus preset and headphones in a noisy room. This site does not diagnose or treat ADHD.
- Is brown noise okay for dogs, cats, or babies?
- Pets and infants hear more high-frequency energy than adults. Pets and Nursery cut the highs. Keep volume low, watch for stress, and do not use it in place of veterinary or pediatric care. For naps, start with Nursery and a timer. Pink is the usual baby pick on this site.
- Is this a YouTube loop, a podcast, or a 12-hour track?
- Live synthesis, not a looped MP3, remastered file, podcast, Apple Music track, or YouTube upload. There are no ads in the audio and no 1-hour seam. Play as long as the tab stays open, or set 8, 12, or 24 hours on the timer.
- Can I download brown noise as an MP3?
- No. There is no brown noise download on RelaxEnd. The worklet generates samples as you listen. Bookmark this page if you want it again.
- Is there a free brown noise app for iPhone or Android?
- This is a free browser player. On iPhone or Android, open the page in Safari or Chrome and add it to your Home Screen if you want an icon. Alexa and Google Home do not run this lab as a skill. Those speakers have their own brown noise skills; this page is the in-browser generator.
- What frequencies does brown noise use? Is 432 Hz brown noise?
- Brown noise is a slope, not a single tone. Power drops about 6 dB per octave as frequency rises, so most energy sits in the low bands (the 31 Hz and 63 Hz EQ sliders). 432 Hz is a sine-wave pitch, not brown noise. For ultra-deep rumble, pick Ultra Deep or use Warmest Tone and boost 31 Hz.
- How do I generate or make brown noise here?
- Press Play. The worklet integrates white noise into a 1/f² slope in this tab. You are not uploading a file or stitching a loop. Tone and EQ are the maker controls.
- Does it need an internet connection?
- You need the page to load once. After that, synthesis runs in the tab. A drop in the connection does not stop audio until the tab sleeps or you close it.
- Can I leave it playing overnight? Does the timer stop the audio?
- Yes. Leave the timer Off, or pick a chip (8 h, 12 h, up to 24 h). When the timer hits zero, playback stops. Fade out can ease the last seconds. Phones may pause audio when you leave the browser; keep the tab open. There is no separate alarm clock.
- Can I customize the sound? Does it save my settings?
- Tone, the 10-band EQ, volume, fade, and the meditation bell all change the brown bed. Volume, EQ, and timer chips save in this browser's local storage for the next visit.
